OCTOBER 16 – WORLD ANESTHESIOLOGY DAY!

On this day in 1846, American dentist Thomas Morton performed the first operation under ether anesthesia. This took place at Massachusetts General Hospital, a clinical base of Harvard Medical School. Anesthesiology was first applied to patients undergoing various surgical procedures (surgery and its branches). Thanks to Thomas Morton’s discovery, thousands of human lives were saved.

This day is traditionally considered a professional holiday by anesthesiologists-resuscitators and all specialists in this field of medicine. Every day, anesthesiologists participate in operations, the outcome of which depends, in particular, on their skills and abilities. Experienced, knowledgeable anesthesiologists are specialists worth their weight in gold, in no way inferior to other specialists in the field of medicine.

Every novice doctor can put a person into a deep sleep, but only a true professional can make them come back from there. Therefore, we proudly congratulate our professional anesthesiologists on their holiday. We wish them success in their work, faith in goodness, respect, and grateful patients!

Sincerely,
Head of NGO “UDU”
Candidate of Medical Sciences Yuriy Bun
